Controversial decision by the Dutch Press Council: privacy of the only survivor of a plane crash near Tripoli, a 9 year old Dutch boy, is violated but media could show his picture ’because the picture was all over the internet’. Both Dutch and Belgian ombudsman criticise ’curious’ decision
Thanks, Filip. That’s an important privacy issue, and glad that the Dutch and Belgian ombudsmen criticised it. That’s why we need more ombudsmen in the U.S. — or more ”outside ombudsmen” like the Washington News Council. And thanks for agreeing to post the TAO of Journalism seal. Transparency, Accountability and Openness are vital to media credibility and public trust.
